This is a four year, nationally recognised, Modern Apprenticeship in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering leading to a fully documented statement of practical learning and experience from the Company and an academic qualification at HNC/HND level through Inverness College/UHI.

 

Skill and knowledge is gained through maintenance, repair and overhaul of the Company’s equipment currently within the UK and Ireland Aquaculture industry, including involvement in numerous team and individual projects.

 

The position demands a high level of customer service and support therefore constructive enthusiasm, self-motivation and innovative ideas are a requirement Steinsvik UK pride ourselves on flexibility, creativity and support and should the need arise, the undertaking of any duty within the trainee’s capabilities will be expected.

 


What will I learn?
The broad skill base covers :- Heavy and light fabrication, machining, alternating and direct electrics, Network and IP configuration, internal combustion engines, hydraulics/pneumatics’, welding and metal joining, plumbing and pipework, materials handling and plant operation.


In addition to the formal training element, company organisation and administration, specialist aquaculture knowledge and personnel management will be experienced by association.

What qualification or qualities are required?
The qualifications needed are 3 passes at National Level 5 including Maths, English and a Science or Technology subject.
