Aid to typhoon victims in VietnamPublished: 07.12.2017
On November 4th, typhoon Damrey hit Vietnam with deadly force, leaving almost 400 000 people in need of humanitarian assistance. Many of our employees were affected too, especially in the Ninh Hoa district. Many homes are damaged and ruined, which is why Steinsvik has decided to help employees who are affected.
This week, General Manager of Steinsvik Vietnam, John Harald Log, visited several of our employees and their families:
“It is hard for me to see the conditions many are now living in after the damages from the typhoon. The conditions for our colleagues and their families will be even more challenging now that the rainy season is upon us.”
On the bright side, many of our colleagues and their families carry on with a strong belief in a better future. And, in alignment with our values of following through and supporting each other, 164 Steinsvik employees will receive support to rebuild their homes. Some families will receive more than others, depending on the household’s income level, the condition of the house after the typhoon, and the time-frame of the reconstruction.
“With this support from Steinsvik, homes can be rebuilt and safety ensured sooner than many could have hoped for. I am proud to work for a company that makes a difference for so many of my colleagues when life is challenging,” John Harald says.
