Steinsvik acquires TelCagePublished: 29.09.2014
Steinsvik Group acquires all shares in TelCage AS in Trondheim. The company provides products and services for remote operation of fish farms.
Being able to keep track of the fish although there is storm outside and you have to stay on land is extremely important for farmers. In addition, by using remote management you focus even more on feeding the fish properly, which is the major cost component in salmon farming.
– The acquisition is part of a long-term growth strategy for us. Steinsvik Group has long worked hard to expand its market area. As we have experienced it TelCage has been our strongest competitor in this market, and we are theirs. As we merge our forces we will provide our customers the absolute best offer within the remote control, remote feeding and remote monitoring, says the owner of Steinsvik Group, Bjørn M Apeland.
– In general, I am sure that in the future will be a need for more advanced technology in the industry. When you get new technology you need to have systems to manage the information. This is also something we acquire through acquisition.
– TelCage has over 30 locations that use our solutions, says Sigbjørn Dahle, general manager TelCage. Total in Norway there is somewhere between 600-700 active sites at any time, which means that the untapped market potential is enormous. This is a “game changer” for the industry, and something that I think everyone will need in about 10 -15 years.
